MISSOURI STAR JESSE “THE ROCKET” HOCKETT ENTERS USAC/CRA SEASON OPENER AND PAS 360 CHAMPIONSHIP!
(JANUARY 28, 2008, PERRIS, CA) With the 2008 season opener less than two weeks away, Perris Auto Speedway officials are pleased to announce that young Warsaw, Missouri superstar Jesse “The Rocket” Hockett has posted an entry for the Perris 360 Sprint Car Championship and the USAC/CRA season opener on February 8th and 9th. Temecula Valley Pipe & Supply will present the two nights of racing. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM both nights.
Last November 2nd, Hockett, 24, journeyed to The PAS and defeated one of the toughest fields of Sprint Cars assembled in 2007 when he the won the main event on the second preliminary night of the Budweiser Oval Nationals. It was Hockett’s first ever-main event win on the brightly lit Riverside County clay oval. One night later he ended up an impressive fourth in the prestigious Oval Nationals A main event.
Hockett heads into The PAS season opener coming off a very impressive showing in the USAC National Series in 2007. He ended up fifth in USAC National points and along the way posted one win (mentioned above), eight top five finishes and 14 top tens. His season was impressive enough to earn the “Most Improved Driver” award in what is commonly known as the nation’s toughest non-wing sprint car series.
While 2007 was Hockett’s first full season with the USAC National Sprint Car Series, he is no stranger to racing fans or success. In fact, he won his first main event at Pikeston, Kansas’ Linn County Speedway 10 years ago at the tender age of 14. In 2003, he pocketed $10,000.00 when he won the Non-wing World Championship at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas. He made the A main at the 2004 Knoxville Nationals and journeyed down under to win the Western Australia Points Week Championship in 2005. Two weeks ago, Hockett placed 12th in the A main at the Chili Bowl Nationals in Tulsa, Oklahoma. That is extremely impressive as 275 cars vied for the 24 spots in the A main!
Hockett will be behind the wheel the familiar VKCC Motorsports #75s in both halves of the season opening program.
Another driving star named Jesse is also among the early entries for the 360 portion of the program. Jesse Mack, of San Luis Obispo, California is the defending Bandit Sprint Car Series champion. Mack won four main events on his way to last year’s title and all four of his wins came at the Santa Maria Speedway.

Consistency has been the key to recent success for VKCC Motorsports and driver Jesse "the rocket" Hockett. The rocket recently celebrated his 24th birthday in style by winning the ASCS Midwest season finale at US 36 Raceway in Cameron MO. Jesse has shown his versatility finishing in the top 5 in 12 of his last 13 starts and 2 wins in 3 different types of sprint cars (410 wing, 360 wing, and 410 non wing). Jesse and team also captured the 410 non wing Sprint Bandit season long points championship along the way. The wins at US 36 Raceway and the Preliminary win at the LOS 360 National were the highlights of the 13 race stretch since the Knoxville Nationals. " We didn't have the Nationals that we had hoped for but we didn't get down and kept working hard, its definitely starting to pay off now. Gary Eastwood and Jared Schneiderman have done an excellent job keeping the car fast and consistent lately. Hopefully we can use this momentum to finish out the usac season strong, and make up some positions in the National standings." The next race up for Jesse and team will be the All Stars $10,000 to win Hoosier Nationals at Lawrenceburg speedway. Jesse drives the Tom and Asta Vankeirsbilck owned VKCC Motorsports #75 sponsored by Rod End Supply, Fischer Body Shop, LRB Manufacturing, Massey's Truck Repair, Red Onion Lounge, and the Kasey Kahne Foundation. Consistency requires strong parts and components Penske Shocks, DRC Chassis, Hoosier Tires, AZ Race Mart, Weld Wheels, DMI, LRB, HRP wings, and Indy Race Parts have all provided the reliability to run hard and fast night after night.VKCC Motorsports and Jesse Hockett are weighing options for the 2008 season and are searching for a major sponsor, as well as associate sponsors to keep on the road for next season.
